This Summer Will Be Different
By Carley Fortune
Rating: 3.75 Stars
I've been chasing the high from Every Summer After, which was one of my top reads from 2023, especially after being highly disappointed with Meet Me At The Lake (so much so that I DNFd it and haven't picked it up since). I really wanted to go into this one blindly but I just couldn't manage to stray away from reviews on social media saying how good it was. My hopes were HIGH. However, it took me nearly 2 months to finish and that's not a good sign for me. If I love a book, I will most definitely not be able to put it down and devour it in a day or so. I'm still not quite sure if I was more frustrated with the MCs or the pace of the story. Maybe a combination of both? Their push-pull relationship constantly gave me whiplash. By the time I neared the end of the book I was ready for it to be over. I enjoy Carley Fortune's writing style and I will read her future work but this one was a little disappointing for me if I'm being completely honest.Â
